The Tasmanian Working Sheep Dog Association Inc (TWSDA) acknowledges its long-standing relationship with Agfest, spanning more than 30 years.

The Association is aware of recent media reports regarding the absence of a sheepdog trial at Agfest 2026 and has chosen not to comment publicly on these matters.

Our focus remains on working constructively with the Agfest committee to once again host a full event at Agfest 2027 and in the years beyond, in a way that supports and aligns with Agfest’s objectives while showcasing the exceptional skills, precision, and teamwork between handlers and their dogs.

Agfest provides the TWSDA with the largest public exposure of any event on our calendar, and this opportunity is highly valued. Over many years, the prominent positioning of sheepdog trials at Agfest has enabled spectators to view, engage with, and surround the arena, offering a unique and up-close experience of the sport.

This accessibility has allowed us to connect with a broad cross-section of the community - from school children and farming families to suburban visitors with an interest in working dogs.

While Agfest remains a key event, the TWSDA continues to host a range of trials throughout the year that are open to the public. We warmly invite spectators and prospective competitors to attend these events and experience the sport firsthand.

The TWSDA supports Agfest and values the strong, long-standing relationship we share. We look forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come.

We extend our best wishes to the Agfest committee for a successful Agfest 2026 and hope to return in 2027.
